Every double glazed unit we make uses toughened clear glass on both panes, so it’s safety glass right through. Whether you need custom double glazed glass for a new build or replacement double glazed glass for a fogged or cracked unit, it’s made to your sizes from the start.
The gap
Argon-filled double glazed units as standard
Argon gas fill is standard and included in every DGU price. Argon insulates better than air, helping keep heat in during winter and out in summer. Air-filled units are also available — just choose air in the builder.

Special units
Stepped, shaped, cut-out and colonial bar units
Not just rectangles. We can make stepped units (one pane larger than the other), shaped units, units with a cut-out, and units with colonial bars inside the gap for a traditional look. Add these as special processes in the DGU builder, or send us an enquiry with a drawing.
Measuring
How to measure for double glazed glass cut to size
- Measure the width and height of the glass (or the opening, less your glazier’s clearance) in millimetres, in at least three places. Use the smallest.
- Measure the overall thickness of the existing unit, or check what your frame takes (15 mm is the most common).
- Note any steps, shapes or cut-outs and sketch them.

What is a DGU?
A DGU (double glazed unit) is two panes of glass sealed together around a spacer, with a gas or air gap between them. It insulates and reduces noise far better than a single pane.
Can I get replacement double glazed glass for an existing window?
Yes. Measure the existing unit’s width, height and overall thickness, and we’ll make a replacement double glazed unit to those sizes. Your glazier removes the old unit and fits the new one.
Why toughened panes?
All our double glazed units use toughened safety glass on both sides, so they suit doors, low windows and other human-impact areas. Toughened glass can’t be cut after it’s made, so the unit is built to your exact size.
Is argon extra?
No. Argon gas fill is standard and included in the price. Air-filled units are available if you prefer.
Do you install?
No. We supply double glazed glass only — your own glazier measures and fits it.
